Hands-On XML Exercises

A set of hands-on exercises that build on the Tally XML tags reference. Each one walks through a real Excel-to-Tally scenario using a sample sheet and its matching XML tag file.

Each exercise also includes a short explanation of the tags and attributes it uses. Start with the basics if you're new to udiMagic XML, since later exercises build on earlier ones. If you already know what you need to import, jump straight to the matching exercise.

Before you begin, make sure Tally is running with a test company open, so you can import the samples safely.

Import Stock Items in Tally

Learn how to import Stock Item masters from Excel to Tally. Herein, we have taken a Excel sheet that contains only one Column i.e. the Stock-Item Names. This exercise teaches how to use the COLUMNREFERENCE attribute to fetch data from a specific Excel column.
