GST FAQs

Use one of the four Vouchers-V12-Sales-Purchase templates. Choose "With-Stockitems" if your invoices have items with HSN / SAC codes and quantities, or "Without-Stockitems" for ledger-only invoices. The Basic versions cover the common fields, while the Advanced versions add Buyer and Consignee details, Godown and Batch, Cost Centre, Point of Sale, Cess and other ledgers before and after taxes.

Yes. The Sales-Purchase voucher templates support Sales, Purchase, Debit Note and Credit Note vouchers with GST taxes. The Advanced With-Stockitems template also supports Sales Order, Delivery Note, Purchase Order and Receipt Note vouchers.

Use Master-StockItemMaster.xls. It has fields for the HSN / SAC code and GST tax rates, so you can create or update stock items in Tally Prime in bulk before importing vouchers.

Yes. The Without-Stockitems templates are meant for this. The Basic template supports up to 30 ledgers per voucher, and the Advanced template adds Cost Category and Cost Centre support.

Not if you use the Unique ID feature. Every voucher carries its own Unique ID, and udiMagic uses it to detect records that were already imported so you can choose to overwrite or skip them. See the Unique ID guide for details.

Tally treats a sale as B2B or B2C depending on whether the party has a GSTIN: a registered party has its GSTIN and registration type, while an unregistered or consumer party does not. Enter the party's GSTIN in the Party-GSTIN column of the Vouchers-V12-Sales-Purchase template, in the same row as the invoice. Leave it blank for B2C sales. B2B and B2C invoices can go in the same file.

The GST split is decided by Tally, not by the Excel file. Tally compares your company's state with the place of supply in the Invoice (Sales or Purchase) and treats it as Intra-state if it is within state supply else it is considered as Inter-state supply.
