Using Tally on Cloud / Remote System

When Tally Prime is installed on a remote system, you may face certain challenges while importing excel data into Tally. This happens as ONLY the first instance of Tally is assigned the Port Number and external applications cannot communicate with other instances of Tally.

Follow these Guidelines if you are using Tally on Cloud (other than AWS)

STEP 1: KEEP SEPARATE FOLDERS FOR TALLY
Install Tally in separate folders as shown below :

Your Existing Tally folder
Folder : c:\Tally
Data path : c:\Tally\data
Port : 9000

Note: Regular users will be starting Tally from this folder. No changes to be done here.
ToDo: Create a new folder for UserA
Folder: c:\Tally-UserA
Data path : c:\Tally\data
Port : 9001

Note: User who uses udiMagic will start Tally from this folder. Changes to be done as shown below.

ToDo
1.1 Create a separate Tally folder c:\Tally-UserA. [You can copy/paste your existing Tally folder and then rename it]
1.2 The Data Path for both Tally installations is same. [The data-path is to be set in Tally.ini file]
1.3 Specify a different Port Number (ex: 9001) for UserA. [The Port Number is to be changed in Tally.ini file]

STEP 2: PORT SETTING IN UDIMAGIC
Start udiMagic, go the the 2nd screen and click the Settings button. Set the Port Number as what you assigned in Tally for UserA.

Example :
Port Number : 9001 (for user of c:\Tally-UserA)

How it Works?
Now, when a UserA starts Tally (from his folder c:\Tally-UserA), it runs on Port 9001 and udiMagic connects to Tally on port 9001.

How many users can connect and import data into Tally?
Ans:
udiMagic Single User - One user only
udiMagic Multi User - Five users only
